London East Sheen gym reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very friendly gym I really enjoy going to the gym, I would say there is something for everyone. The staff are all very friendly and the equipment is excellent. The only negative is I would’ve liked a lesson on how to use the equipment so I know it’s set up correctly for me. This is a minor point as there are instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New member of staff has opened the gym late The new member of staff (young tall lad who has been covering for Martin) has opened the gym late the last two Saturdays. The first time he opened the doors late but yesterday he didn’t even arrive until 8 and the gates to the car park hadn’t been opened, causing a massive hazard to road traffic who had to queue on the road. His classes are also sub parr and he should be observed and coached by a more experienced colleague on how to communicate things to the class. He doesn’t give any details about reps/time and ends up confusing the class and getting exercices mixed up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT GYM Had a good workout Saturday morning although challenging. Very impressed with level of cleanliness and staff always friendly. Manager also responds to emails which is great if you have any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t fault it Can’t fault this gym. Affordable, top notch equipment, spacious, super clean with approachable staff.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not great The cleaner in the men’s change room is quite rude. And has been for some time. I appreciate he has a job to perform. But we pay fees to use the space. Every time I’ve been, he’s made people move or sit elsewhere for him to perform his duties.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Overwhelmingly positive. One very minor comment that it took a couple of weeks tor repair a pedal strap on one of the exercise bikes I use which I was a bit surprised by.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bro gym - good equipment, bad beginner gym. Having been to many a gym in my lifetime, this gym is fairly basic in its lay-out (1 floor) but manages to offer a good space for lifters. I am particularly grateful for the comparatively FANTASTIC number of female weightlifting bars (15kg) which is perfect for olympic weightlifting, perfectly complementing the two platforms next to the racks. In my experience, very few commercial gyms offer this so this is a huge bonus for anyone who wants a decently-priced space to train. The less favourable things about this gym are the members, however. East Sheen is a very school-y, residential area and a lot of the gym users are groups of teenage boys who don’t use the equipment safely or appropriately. I am very often nearly smacking boys in the face when my bar goes up from the platform because they do not respect the space. Equally, they are often nearly pushing into me because they are pulling the cables and generally messing about on the equipment without looking where they’re going. The second biggest clientelle are gym bros (also very few of whom use the equipment properly, but they do respect the space more). This wouldn’t be a problem, if it weren’t for a select few of individuals who use the gym as a hunting ground to harass young women. As I am friendly with a lot of the women who attend this gym, I am more aware of the extent of this issue (excessive staring in gym areas, cyber stalking, general harassing of women trying to run on the treadmills). Thankfully, my group and I are experienced gym go-ers, so we know our way around the equipment but I know that gym-anxiety is real and especially for beginners (even more so for women), this is a bad space to try and get to grips with new exercises/equipment. As for the staff, as tends to be the case everywhere, there are some very friendly ones, some fairly rude ones and some who use like to use the space to socialise and help the gym-goers (a plus if that is what you are looking for in a gym). The amenities are okay-ish. Currently, the sport water station hasn’t been topped up in 4 days and is spraying out weird tasting water so that’s infuriating. Haven’t seen any staff to mention this to any time I’ve gone. I can’t say I’ve done any of the classes but they sound decent from what I’ve heard. Overall, good gym to rock up to and do your thing if you know what you’re doing. If not, I would get a PT or try to learn somewhere else (like a 24-hr puregym which will be quieter at certain hours) because it’s not a beginner-friendly environment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure why this gym is a higher tier price? Gym was fine - was there during peak hour so very busy and wait for benches/machines. Not sure why this gym is classified as a higher tier gym and therefore more expensive than others located more centrally in london?
