Exeter Fore Street gym reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be better The toilets are often out of toiler paper, there are no more hand gels, the one at the entrance is always empty. As a nurse who still deals with Covid19 patients is frustrating to see that the basic hand hygiene cannot be performed. The disinfectand liquid meant for cleaning machines is also most of the times non existent, having to look for one that works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good equipment range, could use better ventilation Could use better ventilation. Sometimes it’s can get packed on a warm day and the Indoor temperature and air ventilation can make it feel a bit stuffy. But other than that, all seems fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too little barbells Overall I have few complaints about the gym. Great environment. However, there is a very clear shortage of barbells. It is one of the most basic pieces of gym equipment. When every squat rack/bench is occupied, there is 1 spare, if even that. There should always be spare barbells for people doing exercises such as hip thrusts, deadlifts etc, not just to go with every piece of setup equipment. I also feel kinda bad taking a barbell from a bench/squat and rendering that set up useless for the next person. Barbells are easy to store, they just need a stand which doesn’t take up much space, or frankly can be shoved into a corner, so space is not an issue. Sometimes I cannot find any barbells when it is not crowded at all, and don’t get me started on finding one during peak hours, (without stealing one from a bench, for example). Please purchase an additional 2-3 barbells. I am sure they will make everyone’s gym experience that much more convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Non judgemental and very inclusive I have trained with a few of the instructors over the past couple of weeks and each and every one of them has been fantastic. I first met Catalyna on Monday for Pump and she made sure I was motivated to keep going even of I did have to take lots of little breaks. I next had Nykitta on Thursday for Burn it and as it was just myself and another woman Nykitta tailored the workouts to suit what we could do and happily went through variations of exercises which would suit us best. Nykitta also talked me into joining the absolute abs class on the Friday which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was worried about doing a full 30 minutes just on abs but I did it and Nykitta was fantastic, again, at keeping me motivated to continue. This past Monday I joined the Pump class again and had the wonderful Haifa who mixed up the usual pump exercises. She organised it so that just as a muscle group was getting fatigued we would switch it up and target another muscle group and then circle back around. On Tuesday I had Thomas for the legs bum and tum session and again he was fantastic, he really explained all of the exercises and kept motivation high, the added bonus was that I thought it was a 45 minute class and was pleasantly surprised that it was only 30 as I was feeling that workout. Today I attended the Burn it class again and to my surprise I was the only person that selected to do it. Haifa was leading this class and she had the idea of going down onto the main gym floor and doing a 1 on 1 PT session instead of the regular burn it in the studio. It was fantastic, I would recommend anyone to PT with her, she was so patient and supportive as well as getting stuck in with me so that I didn't feel watched or judged. Honestly I'm so glad that I rejoined PureGym and decided to take all of these classes. My biggest insecurity at the minute is my weight and how I perceive myself and not one single person has been judgemental or looked down on me, everyone has treated me like an equal and I really feel that in the eyes of these instructors size does not matter. It's given me a lot more confidence and has fueled me to continue. Highly recommend this gym. PureGym has always had a special place in my heart and I hope this review shows it. Thank you
