Whether you’re a new member to PureGym with little or no gym experience or a class veteran, there’s lots of benefits taking up fitness classes to get and stay fit. It’s a great way to keep your gym routine fun and interesting. Plus, the atmosphere of this class and working in a group environment will keep your motivations levels high. One of the most popular classes is Pure Tone. If you’re a little unsure about taking up this class, here’s a breakdown so you know what to expect and can get raring to go!

What is Pure Tone?

PureGym fitness classes Pure Tone

Pure Tone is a class that will give your body an all over workout and welcomes all levels of fitness. Set to a soundtrack of inspirational beats, you’ll be working on a series of exercises throughout the whole workout. The great thing about joining a class is that you’ll find that other members and a personal trainer will be there to encourage and motivate you throughout the class. What you do in each class can change week by week but you can expect a variety of weighted and non-weighted exercises. This keeps the workouts fresh and exciting and will allow you to work and challenge your muscles in different ways. Pure Tone usually last about 20 to 40 minutes. To find out how long the class will be you can check your gym’s class timetable on your PureGym app, on the gym page or in the Members Area.

Top tip: If you’re a beginner or have an injury to be aware of, don’t be afraid to let the instructor teaching the class know. It’s in their best interest to help you so they will be able to help you perform the moves or provide alternative to suit your needs and ability.

The Benefits

·         Improved muscle tone

·         Increased stamina and energy

·         Relieved stress

·         An increased sense of wellbeing

What type of exercises will I do in this class?

Pure Tone allows for full body exercises, as well as exercises that target specific areas of the body. All personal trainers will have their own workout routine but here is an example of a workout you can expect.

The Warm Up

Exercises you’ll find in the warm up are targeted at increasing the heart rate and warming up the muscles. This will get the body ready for exercises that require a little more effort. The warm could last anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes.

Here are some example warm up exercises:

-          High knees

-          Jumping Jacks

-          Static body weight squat

-          Arm circles

The Main Workout

Now for the main workout! The personal trainer will go through what exercises you’ll be doing but don’t worry if you’re not familiar with the exercises, as the personal trainer will demonstrate them. Typically, the number of reps, sets and rest period will vary week by week and personal trainer to personal trainer, and the duration of the class.

Here are exercises you could expect in the main workout:

  • Weighted Squats

Make the most out of working out in a group by giving it all that you’ve got!

The Cool Down

Cue relaxing music and 5-10 minutes of light stretches that will set you up for the day ahead or a great night’s sleep.

Hopefully by now you should be excited to book into a Pure Tone class. I’d suggest wearing lightweight clothing and non-slip supportive trainers. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle with you and a hand towel. If you have any questions about the class or about training, you can email me at:[email protected].
